What level is right for you?

6 Levels

We offer 5 levels: Elementary, Beginning, Low Intermediate, Intermediate, High Intermediate and Advanced. These levels are the equivalent of A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels in the Common European Framework (CEFR).

Information about the duration of each level:

At each level, you learn new skills and build on the skills you learned at previous levels. Aston International Academy's Achievement Scale shows you what you can expect to be able to do after successful completion of each level of our program, and for each one of our core classes.

You have never studied English.

You know a little English.

You can go shopping and order at restaurants in an English-speaking country, and maybe talk about my daily routines.

When you hear information about something new, you can respond with my opinions and give reasons for those opinions.

You can read light novels in English without looking up many words and you can hold long conversations with native speakers about complex topics.

You can understand and make jokes in English, understand and use slang effectively, and you can typically identify the difference between a word or expression that would be used in a formal context versus a word or expression that would be used in an informal context.

Grammar:

You can use basic adjectives and adverbs, comparatives and superlatives, imperatives, modals of ability, modals of ability and want, time and place prepositions, familiar count and uncountable nouns, personal and possessive pronouns, and simple present, present progressive, and simple past.

Speaking:

You can introduce yourself, ask and answer questions about your immediate needs and personal/factual information, follow slow, simple directions, describe yourself and your immediate surroundings, and make very simple requests.

Listening:

You can understand basic greetings and questions about your personal life and your surroundings, follow simple instructions and commands, understand the topic of very short conversations about familiar topics, and take short dictations.

Writing:

You can produce sentences and very short paragraphs to describe things in your life, use correct basic punctuation, spelling, and capitalization, write short letters or messages, and use simple transition words to connect your ideas.

Reading:

You can understand short announcements, the main idea and order of events of simple paragraphs on familiar topics, and recognize basic parts of speech and very common vocabulary.
