If you already have a driver's license from another state in the US:
You can drive in Texas for up to 90 days with a license from another state, or Canada
Before the 90 days ends, you must apply for a Texas license
Follow all the steps listed at the top of this page, except:
You do NOT have to pass the written or driving tests

If you already have a driver's license in your own country: Individuals from many countries can drive legally in the United States with the driver's license from their home country, normally for 180 days. Ask at the driver's license office if a license from your country can be used in the United States.
